Honors Seminars

Make an appointment to meet with your departmental adviser early so you'll be ready to take advantage of your priority registration time. Your department assigns your adviser, so check with that office. The Honors office is available, too, for advising. Call, email, or stop in for an appointment.

HONR 192: Honors Seminar

This is the first course in the Honors Track 1 Curriculum. It is taken in the fall semester of the student's freshman year. There is a 1 credit Orientation Component taught by peer mentors that accompanies this course.

HONR 193: Honors Seminar

This is the second course in the Honors Track 1 Curriculum. It is typically taken in the spring semester of the student's freshman or sophomore year. Completion of this course fulfills the AUCC Requirements for Intermediate Writing (1A).

HONR 392: Honors Seminar

This is the third course in the Honors Track 1 Curriculum. It is taken in the student's junior year. Completion of this course fulfills the AUCC Requirements for Arts and Humanities (3B, 3 of 6 credits).

HONR 492: Honors Seminar

This is the fourth course in the Honors Track 1 Curriculum. It is taken in the student's senior year. Completion of this course fulfills the AUCC Requirements for Social/Behavioral Sciences (3C).

HONR 399: Pre-Thesis

This is the 1 credit pre-thesis class which is usually taken one to two semesters before a student takes HONR499. This class is designed to introduce students to the process of designing and completing an Honors thesis.


HONR 499: Senior Honors Thesis

Students are encouraged to take this class the semester before they intend to graduate. Completion of the thesis fulfills AUCC Requirements in Historical Perspectives (3D) and Global and Cultural Awareness (3E). Oral Communications (SPCM 200) is also fulfilled for some majors.
