Congratulations to the Honors Faculty Award Winners!

1 The Honors Student Association recognized Mary Elkins as the 2011-2012 Honors Prof of the Year. She teaches Honors seminars on a variety of topics but is probably best known for her seminars, "Nature in the West: Art, Politics, and Perceptions" and "America and the Civil War".
A graduating senior wrote this about her: "Looking back at my four years at Colorado State University, I can say with all honesty that Dr. Elkins has been the best professor I've had." Another observed that her seminars are the first to fill at registration.

The Honors Student Association also selected Diane Burton as the Honors Adviser of the Year.
She is the Assistant Director of the University Honors Program. Diane always declines her nominations but this year she was in Senegal visiting her daughter in the Peace Corps when the nominations came in so she wasn't able to decline. Her nominators noted that “she truly cares about every one of her students and takes the time for everyone, no matter what."
